숄로이츠쿠인틀레

숄로이츠쿠인틀레(멕시칸 헤어리스도그)는 맥시코의 대표적인 견종이다. 고대 아즈텍에서는 이 개를 식용으로도 키웠다. 이 때문에 스페인 식민지 시절 많은 수의 솔로이츠들이 죽고 멸종위기를 겪었으나 1950년대 미국 동물보호단체가 이 개에 대한 구호활동을 벌이면서 지금은 법적보호를 받고있는 중이다. 지금은 경비견이나 반려동물로 사랑받고 있다. 키는 스탠더드 종인 경우 35∼58cm, 미니어처 종인 경우 35cm 이하이다.
