김부식 (金富軾, 1075-1151)

고려전기 직한림, 추밀원부사, 중서시랑평장사 등을 역임한 문신.학자, 문인이다. 얼굴이 검고 우람하였으며 고금의 학식에 있어 김부식을 당할 사람이 없었다. 신라 무열왕의 후손으로 신라가 망할 무렵 증조부인 김위영이 고려 태조에게 귀의해 경주지방의 행정을 담당하는 주장(州長)에 임명되었다. 그 뒤 김부식 4형제가 중앙관료로 진출할 때까지의 생활기반은 경주에 있었다.

Kim Busik (1075-1151)

Kim Busik was a statesman, general, Confucian scholar and writer during Korea's Goryeo period. He was a scion of the Silla royalty and a member of the Gyeongju Kim clan. Later he was the supreme chancellor from 1136 to 1142 and was in charge of suppression of the Myo Cheong rebellion. Kim is best known for supervising the compilation of the Samguk Sagi, the oldest extant written Korean history.
