조반니 보카치오 (1313-1375)

르네상스 시대 이탈리아의 시인이자 작가. 동시대 시인인 페트라르카와 함께 이탈리아 르네상스를 대표하는 시인으로 평가받는다. 다만 그의 대표작인 '데카메론'이 산문작품이기 때문에 오늘날에는 시인보다는 르네상스 산문 문학의 대표자로 평가받고 있다

Giovanni Boccaccio was an Italian writer, poet, correspondent of Petrarch, and an important Renaissance humanist. He was known par excellence as the Certaldese,and one of the most important figures in the European literary panorama of the fourteenth century.
