팰리스 오브 파인 아트

1906년에 일어난 대지진으로 인해 피해를 입었던 샌프란시스코 지역이 다시 재건됐다는 의미로 만들어진 건축물. 웅장하고 고풍스러운 건축물로 이국적인 분위기를 풍기는 이곳은 영화 '더 록'에 나와 우리나라에도 유명해진 장소다. 반면에 샌프란시스코 시민들에게는 피크닉 장소로 혹은 웨딩 사진 촬영 배경으로 사랑 받고 있는 곳이다.

The Palace of Fine Arts

The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco, California is a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art. Completely rebuilt from 1964 to 1974, it is one of only a few surviving structures from the Exposition. The most prominent building of the complex, a 162 feet high open rotunda, is enclosed by a lagoon on one side, and is neighboring a large, curved exhibition center on the other side, which is separated from the lagoon by colonnades.
