가부키

가부키는 일본의 연극 중에서 대표 전통예능의 하나이다. 가부키의 시작은 1600년경 한 여자가 시작한 춤으로 알려있으며 400년 이상의 역사가 있다.원래 여성이 시작한 가부키지만 현재 가부키 배우는 남자 만이 될 수 있다. 이는 원래 유녀가 서민에 향해 연기하고 있었으나, 단골 유녀를 둘러싼 손님끼리의 다툼이 끊이지 않은 것 등으로 여성의 가부키가 금지되어 지금의 남자가 맡는 가부키가 됐다. 서민을 위한 것으로서 가부키는 다른 일본 전통 예술에 비해 배우의 움직임과 화장이나 의상도 매우 화려하다.

Kabuki

Kabuki is a classical Japanese dance-drama. Kabuki theatre is known for the stylization of its drama and for the elaborate make-up worn by some of its performers. The individual kanji, from left to right, mean sing, dance, and skill. Kabuki is therefore sometimes translated as "the art of singing and dancing".

가부키자

가부키자는 1889년에 개장한 일본의 전통 있는 가부키 전용 극장이다. 무대의 진행에 맞춰서 해설해 주는 이어폰 가이드는 영어판도 준비되어 있다. 가부키자 내부에는 다양한 가부키 관련 선물가게나 간식가게가 늘어서 있다.

Kabuki-za

Kabuki-za in Ginza is the principal theater in Tokyo for the traditional kabuki drama form. The Kabuki-za was originally opened by a Meiji era journalist, Fukuchi Gen'ichirō. Fukuchi wrote kabuki dramas in which Ichikawa Danjūrō IX and others starred; upon Danjūrō's death in 1903, Fukuchi retired from the management of the theater.
