섬진강의 대표 음식? 다슬기, 참게, 은어, 민물매운탕 등 많이 있지만 그 중 으뜸을 꼽으라면 재첩일 것이다. 술꾼들에게는 시원한 해장으로, 여성들에게는 피부미용에 좋은 재첩. 하동 여행시 반드시 먹어야 하는 대표 음식이다.
