가시하라 신궁

가시하라 신궁은 약 2,700년 전 일본의 초대 천황인 ‘진무 천황’이 즉위한 장소에 세워진 건축물로서, 실제 지어진 것은 1890년이다. 우네비산 기슭에 건립된 가시하라 신궁은 일본의 건국을 기념하는 의미가 담긴 성소의 성격을 띠고 있으며, 총 53만 평방미터에 달하는 방대한 면적을 자랑한다. 진무 천황과 히메타타라이스즈히메 황후를 모시고 있다. 신궁에서는 일본의 건국기념일에 해당하는 매년 2월 11일에 최초의 천황 즉위를 기념하는 ‘기원제’를 연다.

Kashihara Shrine

The Kashihara Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, Japan. The shrine was built in April 2, 1890 at the site of the Kashihara-gū, which is situated on the southeastern side of Mount Unebi of Yamato Sanzan. Japan's first Emperor, Emperor Jimmu, is said to have acceded to the throne on February 11, 660 BC at the Kashihara-gū. The Mausoleum of Emperor Jimmu is found on the shrine's premises.
