이하라 사이카쿠 (1642-1693)

이하라 사이카쿠는 일본 근세 소설 작가 중 비중 있는 작가로 자리매김한 문인이다. 본명은 '히라야마 도고'이다. 1682년, 그가 집필한 첫 소설 작품 '호색일대남'이 크게 호평을 받은 뒤로 많은 산문 작품을 만들어냈다.

Ihara Saikaku (1642-1693)

Ihara Saikaku was a Japanese poet and creator of the "floating world" genre of Japanese prose. Born as Hirayama Tōgo, the son of a wealthy merchant in Osaka, he first studied haikai poetry under Matsunaga Teitoku and later studied under Nishiyama Sōin of the Danrin school of poetry, which emphasized comic linked verse.
