빅벤드 국립공원

빅 벤드 국립공원은 한 곳에서 완전히 다른 세 가지 지형을 모두 경험할 수 있다. 치와완 사막은 공원의 대부분을 차지하는 광활한 사막으로, 독특한 선인장과 야생동물들이 살아가는 강인한 생명력의 현장이다. 치소스 산맥은 사막 한가운데 솟아오른 험준한 산맥입으로 산 정상부인 '치소스 베이슨'은 사막보다 기온이 낮아 시원한 숲길을 산책하며 공원 전체를 조망하기 좋다. 멕시코와 미국의 국경을 이루는 이 리오그란데강은 수백 미터 높이의 깎아지른 듯한 협곡을 만들어냈다. 특히 산타 엘레나 협곡은 공원에서 가장 압도적인 경관 중 하나다.

Big Bend National Park

Big Bend National Park is an American national park located in West Texas, bordering Mexico. The park has national significance as the largest protected area of Chihuahuan Desert topography and ecology in the United States. The park protects more than 1,200 species of plants, more than 450 species of birds, 56 species of reptiles, and 75 species of mammals.

용설란

용설란(Agave americana)은 높이 1-2m이고, 다육질의 잎이 20-30개 달린다. 잎은 바소꼴로 두껍고 청백색이며 끝과 잎 가장자리에는 날카로운 가시가 있다. 테킬라는 용설란 수액을 발효, 증류시켜 만든 술이다.
