마곡사

마곡사는 충청남도 공주시 사곡면 운암리 태화산 동쪽 산허리에 있는 절이다. 대한불교 조계종 제6교구 본사이다. 640년(신라 선덕여왕 9년)에 중국에서 돌아온 자장율사가 월정사와 통도사를 창건할 때 선덕여왕에게 토지 200결을 받아 전탑을 세우고 이곳 마곡사도 함께 창건했다고 전한다.

Magoksa

Magoksa is a head temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism in Gongju, South Korea. It is located on the eastern slope of Taehwasan, on taegeuk-shaped bend in the Taegeukcheon Stream. Magoksa Temple was established in 640 by Vinaya Master Jajang Yulsa, who also built Tongdosa Temple upon his return from China.
