1960년 동계 올림픽은 1960년 2월 18일부터 2월 28일까지 미국 캘리포니아주 스쿼밸리에서 개최된 제8회 동계 올림픽이다. 총 30개국이 참가하였고 남아프리카 공화국이 처음으로 동계 올림픽에 참가했다.

1960 Winter Olympics

The 1960 Winter Olympics was a winter multi-sport event held between February 18–28, 1960 in Squaw Valley, California, United States. Cold War politics forced the IOC to debate the participation of China and Taiwan. The United States supported Taiwan while the Soviet Union stood behind China. Given the fact that the 1960 Games were to be held in America, there was concern among IOC members that the United States would not allow China or any other Communist country to participate.
