백제 무령왕 (462-523)

무령왕은 백제의 제25대 국왕이다. 무령왕릉에서 발견된 지석에 따르면 462년 태어났고 이름은 사마(斯麻) 또는 융(隆)이다. 아버지에 대해서는 이견이 많다. 《백제신찬》에 따르면 무령왕의 아버지는 개로왕으로 그가 동생 곤지와 부인을 공유했다고 하나, 이것은 왕위 계승의 정통성을 이끌어 내려는 시도라는 설이 있다.

Muryeong of Baekje (462-523)

In 1971, King Muryeong's tomb was excavated in Songsan-ri, Gongju, South Korea, where he was buried with his queen. In 2001, Japan's emperor Akihito told reporters "I, on my part, feel a certain kinship with Korea, given the fact that it is recorded in the Chronicles of Japan that the mother of Emperor Kanmu was of the line of King Muryong of Baekje."
