성삼문 (1418-1456)

성삼문은 조선 전기의 문신·학자로서, 사육신의 한 사람이다. 생원으로 1438년 과거에 급제하여 집현전 학사의 한사람으로 세종대왕을 도와 훈민정음 창제에 참여했고, 1447년 중시 문과에 급제하였다. 1450년 어린 세손을 부탁한다는 세종의 유지를 받들다가 세조 찬위 이후 단종 복위 운동을 주관하였으나, 신숙주, 정인지 등이 세조의 편에 서고 김질 등이 밀고함으로써 실패하고 만다.

Seong Sammun (1418-1456)

Seong Sammun was a scholar-official of early Joseon who rose to prominence in the court of King Sejong the Great. He was executed after being implicated in a plot to dethrone King Sejo (r. 1455–1468) and restore his predecessor King Danjong, and is known as one of the sayuksin with reference to this plot.
