조선왕조 의궤 (유네스코기록유산)

조선왕조 500여 년간의 왕실 의례에 관한 기록물로, 왕실의 중요한 의식을 글과 그림으로 기록하여 보여 주고 있다. 진귀한 『의궤』는 왕실 생활의 다양한 측면을 아주 자세하게 담고 있다는 점에서 그 가치가 높다. 혼인·장례·연회·외국 사절 환대와 같은 중요한 의식을 행하는 데 필요한 의식·의전·형식 절차 및 필요한 사항들을 기록하고 있고, 왕실의 여러 가지 문화 활동 외에 궁전 건축과 묘 축조에 관한 내용도 자세히 담고 있다.

Uigwe (The Royal Protocols of the Joseon Dynasty)

Uigwe, which literally means “a model for rituals”, records text and illustrations of all the important state ceremonies and events of the Joseon Dynasty (1392~1910). Following the tradition of Confucianism, this guide covers royal weddings of a King and Queen, crowning of the prince, succession of a new ruler, funerals and other various state events. It also provides illustrations of major events that take place, along with detailed descriptions. Fairly detailed drawings alongside with written texts, giving more room in understanding the vivid scene from the olden days, and for scholars expanding on historical researches.
