아드 디리야의 아트 투라이프 지구

아라비아 반도 중심부의 리야드 북서쪽에 있는 이 유적지는 사우드(Saud) 왕조의 첫 번째 수도였다. 15세기에 건립된 이곳은 특히 나즈드(Najd) 건축 양식을 보여주고 있다. 18세기와 19세기 초에 정치적·종교적 역할이 증가했으며, 아트 투라이프에 있는 성채는 사우드 가문의 권력의 중심지였다. 또한 이슬람교 내에서 와하비즘 개혁의 확산에 주요한 역할을 했다. 왕궁들과 아드 디리야 오아시스 가장자리에 지은 도시 건축물들이 유산으로 남아 있다.

At-Turaif District in ad-Dir'iyah

This property was the first capital of the Saudi Dynasty, in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula, north-west of Riyadh. Founded in the 15th century, it bears witness to the Najdi architectural style, which is specific to the centre of the Arabian peninsula.
