자코모 지롤라모 카사노바는 이탈리아 베네치아의 모험가이자 작가, 시인, 소설가이다. 자서전이기도 하고 회고록이기도 한 그의 주요 저서 'Histoire de ma vie' "나의 삶의 이야기)는 18세기 유럽 사회 생활의 관습과 규범에 대한 가장 신뢰할 만한 자료 중의 하나로 여겨진다. 그는 여성 편력가로 워낙 유명해서, 그의 이름은 "(여성을) 유혹하는 기술"과 동의어로 남아있다.
