고류지

603년에 세워진 고류지는 교토에서 가장 오래된 절이다. 이 절에는 국보 제1호인 미륵보살상을 비롯해 오래된 불상이 소장되어 있다. 불경을 읽기 위한 건물인 고도는 12세기에 지어졌으며 다른 건물들은 17세기에 재건된 것이다. 가장 오래된 건물인 고도는 붉은 색으로 칠해친 기둥이 매우 아름다우며 국가 중요문화재로 지정되어 있다. 고도에는 극락정토를 주재하는 부처인 아미타여래좌상이 안치되어 있으며 국보로 지정되어 있다.

Kōryū-ji

The temple is also known by the names Uzumasa-dera and Kadono-dera, and was formerly known as Hatanokimi-dera, Hachioka-dera and Hōkō-ji. Kōryū-ji is said to be the oldest temple in Kyoto, having been constructed in 603 by Hata no Kawakatsu upon receiving a Buddhist statue from Prince Shōtoku. Fires in 818 and 1150 destroyed the entire temple complex, but it was rebuilt several times since.
