1948년 하계 올림픽

1948년 하계 올림픽은 영국 런던에서 1948년 7월 29일부터 8월 14일까지 개최된 제14회 하계 올림픽이다. 2차 세계大전의 영향으로 1936년 베를린 올림픽 이후 12년 만에 열린 대회였고 런던에서 개최된 두 번째 올림픽이기도 하다. 독일, 일본은 제2차 세계 大전을 일으킨 책임을 물어 참가가 금지되었고 소비에트 연방을 비롯한 공산주의 국가들은 초대받았지만 불참하였다. 대한민국이 최초로 태극기를 앞세우고 하계 올림픽에 출전하여 복싱 플라이급의 한수안 선수, 역도 미들급의 김성집 선수가 2개의 동메달을 획득하여 종합 32위에 올랐다.

1948 Summer Olympics

After a twelve-year hiatus caused by the outbreak of World War II; these were the first Summer Olympics held since the 1936 Games in Berlin. The 1940 Olympic Games had been scheduled for Tokyo, and then for Helsinki; the 1944 Olympic Games had been provisionally planned for London. This was the second occasion that London had hosted the Olympic Games, having previously hosted them in 1908, forty years earlier.
