진도개

천연기념물 제53호 진도개의 날(5월 3일)을 기념하는 진도개 축제가 ‘또 하나의 가족, 진도개는 내 친구’라는 주제로 5월5일 부터 5월6일까지 진도개 테마파크에서 개최된다. 올해로 7회째 이어지는 축제에는 진도개 뿐만 아니라 다양한 견종이 장애물 넘기, 원반 던지기, 허들릴레이, 독댄스, 프리스타일 등에 참가해 그동안 갈고 딱은 실력을 선보인다.

Jindo Dog

The Korean Jindo is a breed of hunting dog that originated on Jindo Island in South Korea. Brought to the United States with South Korean immigrants, it is celebrated in its native land for its fierce loyalty and brave nature. The Jindo breed became recognized by the United Kennel Club on January 1, 1998 and by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale in 2005.
