5·4 운동 (1919.5.4)

오사운동(五四運動, 중국 5·4 운동, 1919년 톈안먼 사건)은 1919년에 조선의 3.1 운동(1919년)의 영향과 러시아 혁명(1917년)의 영향을 받아 중화민국에서 확산한 반제국주의·반봉건주의 혁명운동으로서, 중국에 변화가 발생하는 사건이 되었다. 학생 운동이 혁명 운동으로 탈바꿈되는 정치 운동의 모습으로 나타나기도 했다. 중국 공산당의 역사에서도 신민주주의 혁명의 출발점으로 평가되기도 하며, 또한 근대사·현대사에서도 중국의 중요 사건으로 일컬어지기도 한다.

May Fourth Movement (1919.5.4)

The May Fourth Movement (Chinese: 五四运动; pinyin: Wǔsì Yùndòng) was an anti-imperialist, cultural, and political movement growing out of student participants in Beijing on 4 May 1919, protesting against the Chinese government's weak response to the Treaty of Versailles, especially allowing Japan to receive territories in Shandong which had been surrendered by Germany after the Siege of Tsingtao.
