당창건기념탑

평양직할시 대동강구역 문수거리에 있는 기념탑으로 1994년 9월 30일에 착공되었으며 조선로동당 창건 50주년 기념일인 1995년 10월 10일을 하루 앞둔 1995년 10월 9일에 준공되었다. 만수대창작사가 기념탑 건설을 주도하였다. 조각상 높이는 50m, 받침대 높이는 20m, 총높이는 70m인데 조각상 높이 50m는 조선로동당 창건 50주년을 뜻하며 총높이 70m는 김일성이 타도제국주의동맹을 결성했다는 해인 1926년부터 조선로동당 창건 50주년이 되는 해인 1995년까지의 기간을 뜻한다.

Monument to Party Founding

The Monument to Party Founding is a monument in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. The monument is rich in symbolism: the hammer, sickle and calligraphy brush symbolize the workers, farmers and intellectuals. The element is 50 meters high to symbolize the 50-year anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea. The number of slabs comprising the belt around the monument and its diameter stand for the date of birth of Kim Jong-il.
