에펠탑 (1889 / 324m)
에펠탑은 프랑스 파리의 상징이자 전 세계에서 가장 유명한 건축물 중 하나로, 파리를 대표하는 랜드마크다. 1889년 프랑스 혁명 100주년을 기념하기 위해 열린 파리 만국 박람회를 기념하여 건축되었다. 당시 최고의 교량 건축가였던 구스타브 에펠(Gustave Eiffel)의 회사에 의해 세워졌다. 완공 당시에는 세계에서 가장 높은 건축물이었으며, 총높이는 안테나를 포함해 약 330미터에 달한다. 1만 8천 개가 넘는 금속 부품과 250만 개 이상의 리벳이 사용된 정교한 철제 구조물이다. 탑 내부에는 총 3개의 층으로 이루어진 전망대가 마련되어 있으며 엘리베이터나 계단을 통해 오를 수 있고 파리 시내 전경을 360도 파노라마로 감상할 수 있는 최고의 명소로 꼽힌다. 해가 지면 매시 정각마다 수천 개의 전구와 서치라이트가 반짝이는 화려한 '빛의 쇼'가 펼쳐져 야경의 정수를 보여준다.
Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Constructed from 1887–89 as the entrance to the 1889 World's Fair, it was initially criticized by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but it has become a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognisable structures in the world.
