스노글로브
정확한 유래는 알 수 없지만, 19세기 초 프랑스에서 문진으로 사용한 것이 시초로 알려져 있다. 1878년 파리 엑스포에서 소개되면서 유럽 전역으로 퍼져나갔으며, 1889년 파리 엑스포에서는 에펠 탑을 넣은 스노글로브가 관광상품으로 판매되기도 했다. 최초로 이름이 알려진 스노글로브의 제작자는 비엔나의 에르빈 페르지 (Erwin Perzy)로 실내 조명의 밝기를 개선하려던 중 이를 만들어냈다고 한다. 현재 이 사람의 손자가 Original Vienna Snow Globe라는 회사를 1980년대부터 경영하고 있다고 한다.

Snow globe
The snow globe dates back to at least 1878, as seen in the Paris Exposition Universelle (1878) and reported in the US commissioner's report of the expo "Paper weights of hollow balls filled with water, containing a man with an umbrella. These balls also contain a white powder which, when the paper weight is turned upside down, falls in imitation of a snow storm."
