비잔티움 제국 (330-1453)

로마 제국 또는 동로마 제국, 중세 로마 제국, 비잔티움 제국, 비잔틴 제국은 중세 시대에 콘스탄티노폴리스 천도 이후의 로마 제국을 일컫는 명칭으로, 수도는 콘스탄티노폴리스(현재의 이스탄불)였고 로마 황제가 다스렸다. 이 나라는 ‘로마 제국’으로 불렸고 제국 주민과 주변 나라 사람들은 ‘로마니아’라고 부르기도 했다.
