졸본성 (卒本城, 오녀산성)

북부여에서 남하해 온 주몽(朱蒙)집단은 졸본지역에 정착하여 근거지를 확보하였다. 고구려 초기의 수도에 대하여 광개토왕릉비문에는 홀본(忽本), 《삼국사기》 고구려본기에는 ‘졸본’이라고 하였으며, 《위서 魏書》 고구려전에는 ‘흘승골성(紇升骨城)’으로 되어 있다.모두 같은 지역을 가리키는데, 지금의 만주 환인(桓仁) 북쪽에 있는 오녀산성(五女山城)으로 지목된다. 주몽왕이 비류수(沸流水) 골짜기의 홀본 서쪽 산 위에 성을 쌓고 수도를 정한 곳으로, 혼강(渾江)을 끼고 있는 비옥한 충적지대이다.

Wunü Mountain

Wunü Shan, which means mountain of Five Women, is a mountain of historical and cultural significance located in the north of the town of Huanren, in Huanren Manchu Autonomous County, Liaoning Province, China. The tallest peak is the 821 metre-high Main Peak. Wunü Shan is the birthplace of the ancient kingdom of Goguryeo.
