코리아타운

미국에서 재미동포들이 가장 많이 거주하는 곳이기 때문에 이 곳에서는 한식당, 한국 상품을 취급하는 수퍼마켓, 한국 기업 및 은행 등이 있으며 요즘에는 한국 문화에 관심있는 미국 현지인들도 제법 찾아오는 편이다. 슈퍼, 찜질방은 물론 병원, 안경점, 학원, 한의원은 물론 한국어 라디오 방송에 신문까지 있다. 공차나 설빙 등 한국에서 유행 타는 프랜차이즈도 2~3년 내로 한인타운에 유입되는 경우가 많다. 워낙 한인들이 몰려 있어서 현지 영어를 몰라도 사회 생활이 가능할 정도이다. 심지어 교민 라디오 방송국까지 있다.

Koreatown, Los Angeles

Koreatown is a neighborhood in central Los Angeles, California, centered near Eighth Street and Irolo Street. Koreans began immigrating in larger numbers in the 1960s and found housing in the Mid-Wilshire area. Many opened businesses as they found rent and tolerance toward the growing Korean population. Many of the historic Art deco buildings with terra cotta façades have been preserved because the buildings remained economically viable for the new businesses.
