지리산 (1,915m)

지리산은 1967년 우리나라 최초의 국립공원으로 지정되었다. 경상남도, 전라남도, 전라북도까지 3개 도가 속해 있어 가장 넓은 면적의 산악형 국립공원이다. 천왕봉(1,915m, 최고봉)과 반야봉, 노고단의 3대 주봉을 중심으로 20여 개 봉우리가 병풍처럼 펼쳐져 있으며 주 능선의 거리는 25.5km, 약 65리가 된다. 그 속에 활엽수림이 광활하게 덮여 있는 피아골, 험준하기로 유명한 칠선계곡을 비롯해 뱀사골, 한신계곡 등 장엄한 계곡이 이어지고 천연기념물인 사향노루와 수달 등 다양한 동식물이 서식하고 있다.

Jirisan (1,915m)

Designated as Korea's first national park on December 29, 1967, Jirisan National Park covers three provinces, Gyeongsangnam-do, Jeollanam-do and Jeollabuk-do, one city, four counties, and fifteen eup or myeon districts. Among all 22 national parks, it is the largest mountain-type national park with abundant animal life and plants. Jirisan Mountain has other attractions in addition to being a deep, wide, and huge mountain.
