리옹 역사지구

리옹은 기원전 1세기 로마인들이 갈리아 지방의 세 나라를 로마의 속주(屬州)로 삼고 그 수도로서 건설한 도시다. 그 뒤로 이곳은 유럽의 정치·문화·경제 발전에서 중요한 역할을 했다. 뛰어난 도시 계획과 각 시대에 걸쳐 세워진 유서 깊은 수많은 건물이 리옹의 오랜 역사를 생생하게 보여 준다.

Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière

The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is a minor basilica in Lyon. It was built with private funds between 1872 and 1884 in a dominant position overlooking the city. The site it occupies was once the Roman forum of Trajan, the old forum, thus its name.
