나루토의 소용돌이

세토 내해 국립공원 안에 있는 나루토 해협은 도쿠시마현의 나루토시와 효고현의 아와지섬 사이의 바다로, 나루토 소용돌이라고 하는 특유의 현상을 볼 수 있는 곳다. 세토 내해에서 유입된 해류가 밀물 또는 썰물 때마다 기이 해협을 흐르는 강한 해류와 충돌, 소용돌이가 발생합니다. 특히 조수간만의 차가 큰 봄, 가을에 최대가 되는데 이때 직경이 20m에 달하는 소용돌이가 일기도 합니다. 이 독특한 자연 현상을 감상하는 방법 중 하나는 오나루토교 위에서 소용돌이의 역동적인 모습을 내려다보는 것입니다.

Naruto whirlpools

The Naruto whirlpools are tidal whirlpools in the Naruto Strait, a channel between Naruto in Tokushima and Awaji Island in Hyōgo, Japan. The strait between Naruto and Awaji island has a width of about 1.3km. The strait is one of the connections between the Pacific Ocean and the Inland Sea, a body of water separating Honshū and Shikoku, two of the main islands of Japan.
