게이랑에르 피오르

게이랑에르 피오르는 빙하가 오랜 세월 산악 지형을 깎아 형성한 장엄한 자연경관을 자랑한다. 길이 약 15km의 깊고 푸른 피오르드를 따라 수직에 가까운 절벽이 솟아 있으며, 절벽 사이로 '일곱 자매 폭포'를 비롯한 수많은 폭포가 쏟아져 내려 환상적인 풍경을 만들어 낸다. 주변에는 눈 덮인 산봉우리와 울창한 숲, 작은 농가들이 어우러져 노르웨이 특유의 목가적인 풍경을 감상할 수 있다. 게이랑에르 피오르는 인근의 네뢰위 피오르와 함께 2005년 서노르웨이 피오르드라는 이름으로 유네스코 세계자연유산에 등재되었으며, 세계에서 가장 아름다운 피오르드 가운데 하나이자 노르웨이를 대표하는 자연 명소로 손꼽힌다.

Geirangerfjord

Situated in south-western Norway, north-east of Bergen, Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord, set 120 km from one another, are part of the west Norwegian fjord landscape, which stretches from Stavanger in the south to Andalsnes, 500 km to the north-east. The two fjords, among the world’s longest and deepest, are considered as archetypical fjord landscapes and among the most scenically outstanding anywhere. Their exceptional natural beauty is derived from their narrow and steep-sided crystalline rock walls that rise up to 1,400 m from the Norwegian Sea and extend 500 m below sea level.
