호레이쇼 넬슨(1758-1805)

나폴레옹이 유럽을 석권하고 영국 본토를 위협할 때 트라팔가르 해전으로 프랑스-스페인 연합함대를 무찌르고 전사한 명장이다. 넬슨은 당시 적수가 없던 나폴레옹 보나파르트의 군대를 물리친 몇 안되는 군인이다. 서양의 명제독하면 가장 먼저 떠오르는 인물이고 당시 영국 국민들의 지지를 한몸에 받은 전쟁 영웅이다. 런던 중심지인 트라팔가 광장이 그의 승전을 기리기 위해 이름 붙여진 곳이고 넬슨 동상이 세워져 있다.

HMS 빅토리 호

HMS 빅토리는 104문의 대포로 무장한 영국 해군의 1급 전열함이다. 1758년 발주되어, 1759년 기공하였고, 1765년 진수하였다. 1805년 트라팔가 해전 당시 넬슨 제독의 기함이었다.

HMS Victory is a 104-gun first-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, ordered in 1758, laid down in 1759 and launched in 1765. She is best known for her role as Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805.
