삼국유사

<삼국유사>는 고려 후기의 승려 일연이 우리 민족의 옛 역사와 전설, 불교 이야기를 모아 쓴 책으로, 고조선의 단군 신화에서부터 삼국시대의 사건과 인물, 그리고 불교가 전래되고 발전한 과정까지 폭넓게 다루고 있다. 이 책은 왕 중심의 공식 역사서인 <삼국사기>와 달리 백성, 스님, 영웅, 신화 같은 다양한 이야기들을 담고 있으며, 특히 단군 신화를 최초로 기록해 우리 민족의 기원을 전해 준다. 또한 불탑이나 불상에 얽힌 기적, 스님들의 수행담, 민간 전승 설화 등이 함께 실려 있어 역사뿐 아니라 종교와 문학, 문화 연구에도 매우 중요한 자료가 된다. 결국 <삼국유사>는 단순한 역사책이 아니라, 우리 조상의 신앙과 정신, 그리고 삶의 이야기가 고스란히 담긴 문화유산으로 평가된다.

Samgukyusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms)

Many of the founding legends of the various kingdoms in Korean history are recorded in Samgungnyusa. The text covers legends from many Korean kingdoms, including Gojoseon, Wiman Joseon, Buyeo, Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, and Gaya. Unlike the more factually-oriented Samguk Sagi, the Samgungnyusa focuses on various folktales, legends and biographies from early Korean history. Given its mythical narratives, Samgungnyusa's reliability is questionable.
