칼리

칼리는 힌두교의 여신으로, 힌두교 전통에 따르면 우주의 영원한 에너지와 관계가 있는 여신이다. 칼라카는 "시간에 관계된"의 뜻이다. 칼리는 흔히 "검은 피부색을 가진 자" 또는 "파괴의 여신"으로 해석된다. 칼리는 또한 시바의 배우자 여신인데, 시바는 영원한 시간 또는 영원한 존재라는 뜻에서 칼라라고도 불린다. 이러한 칼라로서의 시바의 배우자 여신이라는 측면에서, 칼리는 "시간"과 시간이 흐르면서 일어나는 "변화"와 시간이 다 흐르고 나면 반드시 오게 되는 "죽음"을 상징하는 시간과 변화와 죽음의 여신인 것으로 여겨지게 되었다.

Kali

Kali is a Hindu goddess. Kali is one of the ten Mahavidyas, a list which combines Sakta and Buddhist goddesses. Kali's earliest appearance is that of a destroyer of evil forces. She is the most powerful form of Shakti. She is the goddess of one of the four subcategories of the Kulamārga, a category of tantric Saivism. Over time, she has been worshipped by devotional movements and tantric sects variously as the Divine Mother, Mother of the Universe, Adi Shakti, or Adi Parashakti. Shakta Hindu and Tantric sects additionally worship her as the ultimate reality or Brahman.
