아관파천 (1896.2.11)
아관파천은 1896년 2월 11일, 조선 26대 왕 고종이 을미사변 이후 극심해진 일본의 위협과 간섭을 피하고 왕실의 안전을 확보하기 위해 러시아 공사관(아관)으로 거처를 옮겨 약 1년간 머물렀던 사건이다. 고종의 피신 직후 친일 내각은 붕괴되고 친러 내각이 수립되었으나, 이는 곧 러시아를 비롯한 서구 열강들이 조선의 광산, 철도 등 각종 이권을 대거 침탈하는 빌미를 제공했으며, 이후 고종이 경운궁으로 환궁하고 대한제국을 선포하는 계기가 되었지만 조선의 자주적 외교력 약화라는 한계를 드러냈다.
