2022년 베이징 동계올림픽

입후보 도시가 아시아 지역 밖에 없었으므로 2018년 동계 올림픽과 2020년 하계 올림픽에 이어 3연속으로 동북아시아에서 개최되었다. 또한 중국은 동계 올림픽 개최국으로서 아시아에서 4번째, 동아시아 국가들 중에서 일본, 대한민국에 이어 3번째로 동계 올림픽을 개최하는 국가가 되었다. 베이징은 2008년 하계 올림픽을 개최했으므로 올림픽 역사상 처음으로 하계 올림픽과 동계 올림픽을 모두 개최한 도시가 되었다. 또한 노르웨이 오슬로에서 열렸던 1952년 동계 올림픽 이후 70년만에 두 번째로 수도에서 열린 동계 올림픽이다.

2022 Beijing Winter Olympics

Beijing was selected as host city in 2015 at the 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, marking its second time hosting the Olympics, and the last of three consecutive Olympics hosted in East Asia following the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang County, South Korea, and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Having previously hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing became the first city to have hosted both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
