반꾸온

얇은 쌀가루 반죽물에 다진 돼지고기나 목이버섯 등 여러 가지 재료를 넣고 말아서 말아서 찐 음식으로, 짜 루어 등을 곁들여 아침에 먹는다. "바인 꾸온"은 "쌀 반죽 말이"라는 뜻이다. "바인"은 한자 "餠(병)"에서 나온 말로, 쌀가루나 밀가루 등 곡분이나 찧은 밥 등으로 만든 음식을 두루 일컫는다. "꾸온" 또한 한자 "卷(권)"에서 나온 말로, "말이"라는 뜻이다.

Banh Cuon

Bánh cuốn is made from a thin, wide sheet of fermented rice batter filled with a mixture of cooked seasoned ground pork, minced wood ear mushroom, and minced shallots. Sides for this dish usually consist of chả lụa, sliced cucumber, and bean sprouts, with the dipping sauce which is fish sauce called nước chấm (Nuoc Mam).
