로물루스와 레무스

로물루스(Romulus)는 전설적 로마의 건립자이며 초대 왕이다. 전설에 의하면, 로물루스는 고대 그리스의 트로이전쟁의 한 영웅인 아이네아의 손자라고 하기도 하며, 혹은 라티누스의 아들이라고도 한다. 오늘날 일반적으로 잘 알려져 있는 로물루스에 관한 전설은 로마의 고역사가 파비우스 픽토르의 설에 의한 것이다.

Capitoline Wolf

The Capitoline Wolf is a bronze sculpture of the mythical she-wolf suckling the twins, Romulus and Remus, from the legend of the founding of Rome. When Numitor, grandfather of the twins, was overthrown by his brother Amulius, the usurper ordered them to be cast into the Tiber River.
