봄베이 사파이어

1987년 출시된 바카디 주식회사 (Bacardi Limited) 산하의 진 브랜드. 보석과 인도의 이미지를 반영한 투명한 푸른색의 아름다운 디자인, 향수처럼 화려한 향으로 짧은 기간에 전세계적으로 큰 인기를 얻었다. 국내에서도 아예 술에 관심이 없지 않다면 눈에 익숙할 것이다. 병의 모습은 인도에서 채굴된 거대 사파이어 원석인 '인도의 별'을 모티브로 삼았다. 여기에 빅토리아 여왕의 초상화를 라벨 중앙에 붙여서 영국의 전성기의 노스탤지어와 이국적인 분위기를 살렸다. 병의 디자인만큼은 보드카의 유명 브랜드인 앱솔루트 보드카와 함께 가장 높은 평가를 받는다.

Bombay Sapphire

Bombay Sapphire is a brand of gin that is distilled by the Bombay Spirits Company, a subsidiary company of Bacardi, at Laverstoke Mill in the village of Laverstoke in the English county of Hampshire. The brand was first launched in 1986 by English wine-merchant IDV. In 1997 Diageo sold the brand to Bacardi. Its name originates from the gin and tonic popularised by the Royal Indian Armed Forces during the British Raj in colonial India; "Bombay" refers to the Indian city and "Sapphire" refers to the violet-blue Star of Bombay which was mined from British Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and is now on display at the Smithsonian Institution.

Laverstoke Mill

Laverstoke Mill is a former paper mill located on the River Test in Laverstoke near Overton, Hampshire, England. The mill complex contains three Grade II listed buildings: the Mill House, Mill Cottages, and the Glazing House. After a major refurbishment between 2011 and 2013, the mill is now the distillery and visitor centre for Bombay Sapphire gin.
