투루판 포도

투루판 포도는 '화염산'의 뜨거운 열기와 '카레즈'의 시원한 물이 만들어낸 대자연의 선물이다. 중국 내에서도 "중국의 포도 향은 신강(신장)에 있고, 신강의 포도 맛은 투루판에 있다"는 말이 있을 정도로 독보적인 품질을 자랑한다. 투루판은 포도가 자라기에 '가장 가혹하지만 가장 완벽한' 조건을 갖추고 있다. 투루판 분지의 뜨거운 태양과 극심한 일교차 덕분에 당도가 매우 높다. 만년설이 녹은 물이 지하 수로(카레즈)를 통해 공급되어 오염되지 않은 깨끗한 수분을 섭취하며 자란다. 건조한 사막 바람을 이용해 구멍이 숭숭 뚫린 벽돌집에서 말린 건포도는 세계 최고의 품질로 인정받는다.

Grape Valley

Grape Valley is an area of arid land in Turpan, Xinjiang, China, where grapes and other fruits are grown. The valley is 8 km long, 600-2,000 meters wide, and is located some 10 km east of Turpan's city center. Turpan has a historically long tradition of growing grape and other fruits, using the karez underground irrigation system. It is famous for growing the seedless white grape, the manaizi grape. Raisins and other dried fruits are also sold at the Grape Valley tourists' area. Chunche grape drying buildings Grape and raisin production in Turpan accounts for over eighty percent of China's total, making China the world's third-largest producer of raisins and the world's largest producer of green raisins.
