비텐베르크

비텐베르크는 독일 동부 작센안할트 주에 있는 도시이다. 인구 47,540(2007). 마르틴 루터가 종교 개혁을 일으킨 곳으로 유명하며, 정식으로는 Lutherstadt Wittenberg라고 한다. 엘베 강 연안에 위치하며, 데사우 동쪽에 있다. 1180년 문헌에 처음 언급되었고, 1260년 작센비텐베르크 공국의 중심지가 되었다. 15세기 말, 작센의 주요 도시가 되었으며, 1502년 비텐베르크 대학교가 개교하였다.

Stadtkirche Wittenberg

The Stadt- und Pfarrkirche St. Marien zu Wittenberg is the civic church of the German town of Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The reformers Martin Luther and Johannes Bugenhagen preached there and the building also saw the first celebration of the mass in German rather than Latin and the first ever distribution of the bread and wine to the congregation - it is thus considered the mother-church of the Protestant Reformation.

마르틴 루터 (1483-1546)

마르틴 루터는 독일의 종교개혁가이다. 당시 비텐베르크 대학교의 교수였으며, 훗날 종교개혁을 일으킨 역사적인 인물이다. 본래 아우구스티노회 수사였던 루터는 로마 가톨릭교회의 면벌부 판매를 회개가 없는 용서, 거짓 평안이라 비판하고 믿음을 통하여 의롭다함을 얻는 이신칭의를 주장하였다.

Martin Luther (1483-1546)

Martin Luther was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, monk, and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. Luther came to reject several teachings and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. He strongly disputed the Catholic view on indulgences.

종교 개혁

종교 개혁은 1517년 10월 31일 종교 개혁가 마르틴 루터가 당시 로마 가톨릭 교회의 대사부(면벌부) 판매, 연옥에 대한 교황권 주장, 그리고 공로사상을 비판한 내용의 95개조 반박문을 발표로 시작된 사건으로, 부패한 교회를 오직 성경의 권위와 오직 은혜와 오직 믿음을 강조함으로써 교회와 교회의 제도를 새롭게 개혁시키고자 했던 교회 개혁 운동이다.

Reformation

The Reformation was a schism in Western Christianity initiated by Martin Luther and continued by Huldrych Zwingli, John Calvin and other Protestant Reformers in 16th-century Europe. It is usually considered to have started with the publication of the Ninety-five Theses by Martin Luther in 1517 and lasted until the end of the Thirty Years' War in 1648.
