브란덴부르크 문

브란덴부르크 문은 초기 고전파적인 양식의 개선문으로 독일의 수도 베를린에 있다. 프로이센 왕국의 제4대 국왕인 프리드리히 빌헬름 2세의 명을 받아 1788년부터 1791년까지 건설되었고, 건축가는 칼 고트하르트 랑한스 이며, 아테네의 아크로폴리스를 참고했다. 그 상단은 요한 고트프리트 샤도가 조각한 마전차 모습의 청동상인 "콰드리가" 그리고 승리의 여신 "빅토리아"로 장식했다.

Brandenburg Gate

The Brandenburg Gate is an 18th-century neoclassical monument in Berlin, built on the orders of Prussian king Frederick William II after the successful restoration of order during the early Batavian Revolution. One of the best-known landmarks of Germany, it was built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel, which used to be capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg.
