을밀대 (乙密臺)

북한 평양직할시 중구역에 있는 삼국시대 고구려의 누정, 누각이다. 을밀대는 6세기 중엽 고구려가 평양성의 내성을 쌓으면서 그 북장대(北將臺)로 세운 것으로 지금 있는 건물은 1714년(숙종 40)에 다시 세운 것이다. 을밀대가 있는 축대는 고구려의 축성술을 엿볼 수 있는 것으로, 높이는 11m가 된다.

Ulmil Pavilion

The Ulmil Pavilion is an historic structure located on Moran Hill in Pyongyang, North Korea. The name of the structure is thought to come from the legend of Ulmil fairy, who descended from heaven over and over again to admire the scenery at the site. Another version tells that the site was named after a Koguryo General Ulmil who bravely fought in the area.
