레오폴드 2세 (1835-1909)

벨기에의 2대 국왕. 초대 국왕인 레오폴드 1세와 오를레앙의 루이즈 마리 왕비 사이의 차남으로 태어났다. 본국 벨기에에서도 그다지 평이 좋은 왕은 아니었지만, 콩고 일대에 '콩고 독립국'이라는 허울뿐인 식민지를 건설, 사실상 사유지처럼 사용하면서 수천만 명의 주민을 노예로 만들어 착취하고 집단살해한 지도자이다.
