관림

촉한의 장수이자 후일 신격화된 관우의 머리가 묻힌 무덤으로, 관림사로도 불린다. 본래 관우 사후 그를 존경하던 조조가 그 수급에 향나무 몸체를 더하여 매장했던 무덤과 작은 사당만이 있었는데, 원나라를 거치며 삼국지가 널리 읽히게 되고 관우에 대한 신격화가 본격화되자 명나라 대인 만력제 연간 현재와 같은 거대한 묘로 조성되었다. 문화대혁명 때에 관우는 부관참시 되어 관이 옆의 나무에 걸리는 피해를 입었다가 복원되었다. 관우가 죽은 날로 알려진 매달 3일이면 관림 앞에서 큰 장이 선다. 1980년대 낙양 고미술 박물관으로 활용되었다가. 명대 건축을 고스란히 유지하고 있는 점을 인정받아 2001년 AAAA급 전국중점문물보호단위에 지정되었다.

Guanlin Temple

After he was murdered by people of the Wu Kingdom, his head was sent to Cao Cao in order to frame Cao Cao and start a fight between the Shu Kingdom and the Wei Kingdom. However, Cao Cao discovered their plot. Due to his great respect for General Guan Yu, Cao Cao had Guan Yu's body carved from eaglewood and buried the carving and the head with great honors outside the South Gate of Luoyang City. Emperors of succeeding dynasties all revered Guan Yu a lot and even worshiped him as God of War. As a result, the temple in Luoyang is splendid and grandiose.

관우 (?-220)

삼국지를 대표하는 명장으로, 지금도 역대 왕조를 비롯하여 민간에서도 굉장히 높은 인기와 명성을 자랑하는 인물이다. 그는 중국인들에게 무와 충, 의리와 재물의 화신으로 인지되며 오늘날까지도 신으로서 숭앙을 받는다. 그 명성은 소설 삼국지연의를 통해 널리 알려져 있다. 그의 남다른 무용, 충의와 의리는 시대를 넘어 수많은 사람들로부터 찬사를 받았고, 그의 장례는 일개 적군의 무장임에도 제후의 예로서 삼국시대의 주역인 조조, 손권에 의해 치러졌다. 또한 후대 왕조의 제왕들이 공자의 문묘와 함께 그의 무덤인 무묘에 그의 신위를 세워 제사를 지내고 기렸으며 민간 신앙의 대상이 될 정도로 깊은 경배의 대상이 되었다.

Guan Yu (?-220)

Guan Yu was a general serving under the warlord Liu Bei in the late Eastern Han dynasty. He played a significant role in the events that led to the end of the dynasty and the establishment of the state of Shu Han – founded by Liu Bei – in the Three Kingdoms period. After Liu Bei gained control of Yi Province in 214, Guan Yu remained in Jing Province to govern and defend the area for about seven years.
