라빈드라나트 타고르 (1861.5.7-1941.8.7)

라빈드라나트 타고르는 인도의 시인 겸 철학자이다. 그는 인도 콜카타에서 15형제 가운데 열넷째아들로 출생하였다. 영국 런던 대학교 유니버시티 칼리지 런던에 유학와, 법학과 문학을 전공하였다. 1913년 아시아에서는 처음으로 노벨 문학상을 수상했다.

Rabindranath Tagore was a Bengali polymath from the Indian subcontinent, who was a poet, musician and artist. He reshaped Bengali literature and music, as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Author of Gitanjali and its "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse", he became in 1913 the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
