칼리가트 칼리 사원

칼리가트 칼리 사원은 힌두교의 여신 칼리(Kali)를 모시는 인도에서 가장 성스러운 사원 가운데 하나로, 서벵골주 콜카타를 대표하는 종교적 명소이다. 이곳은 힌두교의 중요한 순례지인 '샥티 피타(Shakti Peetha)' 중 하나로, 전설에 따르면 여신 사티(Sati)의 오른발 발가락이 떨어진 성지로 전해진다. 현재의 사원은 19세기 초에 건립되었지만, 오래전부터 칼리를 숭배하는 신성한 장소로 알려져 수많은 순례객이 찾고 있다. 사원에는 검은 얼굴과 황금빛 혀를 지닌 독특한 칼리상이 모셔져 있으며, 악을 물리치고 신도들을 보호하는 어머니의 신으로 숭배된다. 특히 매년 열리는 칼리 푸자(Kali Puja) 기간에는 수십만 명의 신도가 방문해 성대한 제례와 축제가 펼쳐진다. 오늘날 칼리가트 칼리 사원은 콜카타의 역사와 문화, 종교를 상징하는 대표적인 명소이자 힌두교 신앙의 중심지로 널리 알려져 있다.
