사곶해변

천연기념물 제 391호로 지정된 사곶 해변은 전 세계에 2곳밖에 없는 천연비행장으로 나폴리에 버금가는 아름다운 곳이다. 한때 군부대 비행장으로 사용하기도 했던 이곳은 고운 모래알맹이들이 넓이 300m 길이3Km의 넓은 백사장을 이루고 있어 피서지로서 세계최고를 자랑한다.

Sand Beach (Natural Air Field) at Sagot Cape

Sand beach in Sagot, Baengnyeongdo Island is situated along the coast in Yonggipo Harbor, Baengnyeongdo Island. It looks like a sand beach, but it is actually a beach consisting of quartzite. At low tide, it is 2km long and 200m wide. Since the beach in Sagot is stuck with quartzite as firm as concrete floor, enough to use it as a natural airstrip by the UN troops during the Korean War as well as road for automobiles.
