시모가모 신사

교토에서 가장 오래된 신사 중 하나로 태고로부터 존재하는 원생림 '다다스의 숲'이 신사를 지키듯이 무성하게 자라고 있다. 높게 우뚝 솟는 나무들에 둘러싸인 참배길은 고요하고 마음이 편안해지는 공간이다. 일상생활의 복잡함에서 벗어나 차분한 마음을 되찾을 수 있다. 특히 신록과 단풍의 계절에는 경치의 아름다움에 흠뻑 취할 정도이다. 누문 근처에는 두 나무가 중간에서 한 나무로 연결된 신기한 신목이 있다. 둘이 하나로 연결된 것으로부터 남녀의 인연을 맺어 준다는 설이 있다. 신사에서 가까운 곳에는 교토의 상징이라 할 수 있는 가모가와와 벚꽃 명소로 잘 알려진 가모가와 공원이 있어 가족들이나 연인들의 휴식 공간으로 제격이다.

Shimogamo Shrine

Shimogamo Shrine in Japanese, is the common name of an important Shinto sanctuary in the Shimogamo district of Kyoto city's Sakyō ward. Its formal name is Kamo-mioya-jinja. It is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Japan and is one of the seventeen Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto which have been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
